Apart from Love

Apart from love, all is but a shade of hate.

Todd Beal

Love is not a feeling or emotion, although we can feel love and emotionally respond to it. It is not a thought or physical sense, though we may think in terms of it and physically respond to a loving touch. Love is the pure essence of truth; it binds together all that is non-contradictory and good unto and through itself. It is higher by nature than we are, yet is in and through us if we humble ourselves to receive it. Love strengthens us, calms us, clears our mind, lifts our spirit high, heals broken hearts and transforms entire nations. It is the source of life, and without its presence we the human race would begin to vehemently hate and kill each other until no life remained.

Hate is not a feeling or emotion, although we can feel hate and emotionally respond to it. It is not a thought or physical sense, though we may think in terms of it and physically respond to a hateful action. Hate is the rejection of love; it binds together all that is destructive and contradictory unto and into itself for the sole purpose of perpetuating evil. It is lower by nature than we are, yet is in and through us if we lower ourselves to receive it. Hate depletes us without replenishment. Hate boils the blood into an angered, destructive frenzy. Hate clouds our judgment and warps our mind; it darkens our spirit and turns our heart to stone. Hate destroys us; it is the vehicle of death, and without its existence the entire human race would accept God and his life-giving love for us. There would be no contradictions within us, no differences between us – no better than or less than – only distinctions and uniqueness amongst us. This will someday happen but we can begin right now by asking God to forgive us for rejecting him, rebuild our heart with his love, and be transformed from the inside out.

About Todd Beal

I love truth and its facts. I love thought-provoking conversations that give both the other person and me a better understanding of a particular topic. I love to find answers to life-long questions; answers that let me see things for what they are instead of what they seem to be. I truly enjoy being in the midst of a group of people where all individuals are joining in, where everybody is enjoying the company of each other. I relax in the company of individuals who are competent yet humble. I like to catch myself doing or saying something ridiculous and then laugh my head off. I enjoy my church and being involved.
